Enrolment & Application Process

Admissions Process

We are currently accepting applications for the 2018—19 academic year.

We are situated on Blundellsands Road West, five minutes from the beach and leisure centre.

Blundellsands Kindergarten was started many years ago by a local order of Nuns to provide a playgroup for local children.  When the Order was dissolved, the children’s families took up the challenge to continue the playgroup and eventually managed to raise the funding for our purpose-built kindergarten still in its ‘original’ grounds.

Today the Kindergarten operates as an independent non-profit making charity and is not aligned with any of the local schools, but we do have an excellent relationship and supply children every year to those schools in our catchment area.

We take children from 2yrs to 5 yrs.

The Kindergarten operates in term time from 8.45am to 3.15pm.  Lunch is from 11.45am to 12.15am.  A breakfast club runs from 8.00am.

Please check with the office for session costs.

Eligibility

Open-door Policy

We operate an open-door policy, but please avoid peak times.  These are 8.30- 9.30am, 11.30am-12.30pm and 2.30pm-3.30pm.  It is also best to avoid the first two weeks of a new term as staff are busy settling in our new children.  Alternatively, you can call the office to make an appointment.  Please note that during school holidays the Kindergarten is only staffed intermittently and you may not be able to contact anyone.

It is also important to agree the number of sessions your child will attend with our manager (Ana) as early as possible.  Whilst we will try to meet any changes, this is not always possible and any reduction in sessions is subject to four weeks’ notice.

Fees

A £50 returnable deposit is required to secure your child a place, or if necessary a place on our waiting list.  The deposit is held until your child leaves Kindergarten

The fees are due in the first week of term. In certain circumstances, fees maybe split 50-50, with the second amount due at the beginning of half term.  The Kindergarten relies on prompt payment of all fees and your cooperation will be appreciated.

The fees cover the running costs of the building and throughout the year we also run various fund-raising events to help meet the maintenance cost of the building and grounds.  In addition, classrooms sometimes hold their own fundraising events for particular projects. The proceeds will be used directly on classroom /outdoor resources.

The highlight of the year is the annual Summer BBQ where children and parents, new and old come together and enjoy the best burger in town! It is usually on the last Sunday before summer holiday.

We pride ourselves on involving our parents as much as possible and you will be welcome to attend Kindergarten and share with our children in any subject or skill you may have.
