Blundellsands Kindergarten
November 2019
Parents evening
Don’t forget:
Tuesday 6 November
Wednesday 7 November
Time slots are displayed outside the classrooms. Please put your name down on the time slot you would like. This is a great opportunity to look through your child’s Learning Journey and have a chat with your child’s key person.
Food bank
Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Harvest Festival food bank this year. The food collected will be distributed to those in need in our community.
Wear It Pink day
Thank you to all the children and staff who made an effort to dress up. We collected a total of £15.50 for this very good cause.
Children in Need appeal
Week commencing 12 November will be a special tidy up week in the kindergarten grounds. Sponsor forms have been given out, so please donate to this good cause and come along and admire the children’s efforts.
A kindergarten free of litter and leaves.
Hello day
Wednesday 21 November will be world ‘HELLO’ day with the aim to express that conflicts should be resolved through communication rather than force. ‘Hello’ is the friendliest way to start any conversation. How many languages can your child say hello in?
Christmas
Nativity play
Our nativity play this year will be “Jump for Christmas”. Rehearsals are well underway and we are expecting a big star cast this year!
The performance will be held on Tuesday 11th December with an afternoon performance and Wednesday 12th with a morning performance.
Tickets will be on sale from Monday 19th November, tickets will not be available before this date. Cost will be £5 a ticket on a first come first serve basis.
Rehearsal day will be on Monday 10 December from 10.00-11.00 am.
PLEASE NOTE: If your child does not attend nursery on either a performance or rehearsal day please make sure they still attend on the day. It would be a shame if any of the performances could not go ahead. Every sheep counts!
Christmas at Somerford House
Monday 10th December at 1.30 pm, Starfish children will visit Somerford House and entertain the senior citizens with some Christmas songs. If your child is not in on a Monday you are still invited to join in. We are also asking for volunteers to help out ‘walking’ the children there and back.
Christmas singalong
Not to be left out, our Seahorse’s will join Starfish for an afternoon Christmas sing along on Thursday 13th December. This fun filled event is organised by the Management Committee and promises to be even more spectacular this year.
Full details will follow, but there may be a hint of mince pie and mulberry wine. The event will commence at 3.30pm and last about an hour. To enable us to cater for all and monitor numbers, please purchase a family ticket for £1 from the office.
British values
This term both rooms will concentrate on Christmas and celebrate Diwali week commencing 5th November.
Topics
Information on this term’s classroom topics will be displayed in the hallway.
Christmas hamper and raffle
The world famous BK Christmas raffle will return this year. The Hamper for donations will be in the hall from Monday 12th November. Please put your name against an item on our Hamper list and give generously this year.
Raffle tickets will be sent out shortly. The cost is £5.00 a strip of five tickets. But you can purchase as many as you like from the office!
The Christmas hamper draw will take place on the 13th December at our Sing along.
You have to be in it to win it.
Childhood Influenza Immunisation programme
A phased roll-out programme to extend the offer of influenza vaccination was started in 2013. The influenza vaccine is quick and a painless nasal spray and not an injection. Not only does the vaccine help to protect the children themselves, but by reducing the spread of influenza it will help protect family members and others in the community. The vaccine also promotes a healthy environment in our Kindergarten by reducing the risk of spread of influenza to others, including staff.
This coming winter, all children aged two to four can get the vaccine at their general practice.
Starting school in 2019
Families of all pre-school children must complete the Local Authority admissions application process in order for their child to be allocated a school place for children starting Primary School in September 2019.
Attending Kindergarten does not mean that your child will automatically be admitted to a primary school and that a separate application for a place to start school must be made. Apply for your place online at www.sefton.gov.uk/admissions, National Closing Date is 15 January 2019.
Fees
Please note that the second payments of fees for this term are now due. The Kindergarten relies on prompt payment of fees. Thank you.
